In 1984 a friend and co-worker, Lynda Hayward, started her own secretarial business. When Lynda would get more work than she could handle, she would give me a call and I would help her out. Eventually, Linda cut back on the amount of work she did and started referring her clients directly to me ... in 1991 AEB Transcription was born.
People ask "Where did AEB come from?" Well... it happened like this: While working for the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office in the Detective Bureau, I was given the nickname Ann E. Bob. It seemed that the detectives in this one particular unit had nicknames (Billy Bob, Larry Jo and Ronnie Bob), so it was fitting that the secretary of the unit should have a name that followed along this same path. Low and behold the name Ann E. Bob was bestowed upon me. By a select few I am still known as Ann E. Bob. Using the initials "AEB" in the name of business seemed to fit and it reminds me of where I got my start.

In November of 1981 I started working for the San Mateo County Sheriff's Offfice, Detective Bureau. One of the essential functions of my job was to transcribe investigative interviews verbatim. I continued to work for the Sheriff's Office in different capacities for approximately six years. I eventually left to go to school full time and study court reporting.
I ran out of money, so I needed to start working again. I took a job at Sequoia Hospital, working in the Laboratory, and continued my studies. A former co-worker from the Sheriff's Office told me that the Sheriff's Office was hiring, so I applied and got a job working in the Main Jail, eventually transferring back to the Detective Bureau, where once again, I was transcribing investigative interviews.
I have also done some medical transcription and transcribed interviews for a doctorial disertation.
